It has currently more than 90 members — institutions of adult education. The association is also represented in the Sectoral Alliance for Education, Science and Sport, the Accreditation Board for Further Education of the Ministry of Education, and a number of other boards and committees. It is represented also in working group on active ageing at Ministry of Labour, Social Affaires and Family.
Last year the Welsh Government committed to developing a right to lifelong learning. With evidence continuing to show the value of lifelong learning and adult education to help people to adapt to the changing nature of work, to improve health and well-being and to bring communities together, we have an opportunity in Wales to work together to make a new right to learning a reality. The conference will discuss and examine the key components needed to deliver a right to lifelong learning, including the role of colleges, universities, community learning, training providers and the third sector.
Adult education is a human right to be exercised by all. The case for adult learning and education corresponds to the case for lifelong learning: throughout the world, education is the indispensable foundation for creating and sustaining personal, social and economic well-being. Today, this is a lifelong and life-wide agenda both for empowerment and for the development of human resources.

Environmental adult education is recognized as a "hybrid outgrowth of the environmental movement and adult educationcombining an ecological orientation with a learning paradigm to provide a vigorous educational approach to environmental concerns. In laymen's terms, environmental adult education refers to efforts in teaching environmental issues and how individuals and businesses can manage or change their lifestyles and their ecosystems in order to achieve sustainable existence. The overarching goal of this field of study is to educate global citizens in order for them to gain sustainable lives within their respective societies.

For only the second time in North America, researchers from eight international organizations will meet in Vancouver to share and discuss research in adult learning and education.
